Hey you guys, it’s Brenton and John here again. No summit yet.
We’ve had a few communications problems. But we were up there trying to get to the base of the route last week. Some pretty funky warm snow conditions - the gullies were about slush. I think at one point going across the glacier on the way down Brenton fell in halfway up to his waist in a cravas. We were post holing up to our knees, so it was pretty brutal up there.
We had some pretty crazy looking clouds coming in over the ice cap, so we opted to pull the plug and come back another day.
So let’s see, today’s Monday. We spent the last 4 days resting and learning how to read this declassified Navy website for weather. Looks like we have a clear high-pressure system for the rest of the week - may be a bit windy but we don’t see any looming storms over the horizon.
We will spend today getting ready to go back up and try again. Love you guys, bye.
