My name is Eric Bryant and I am addict...and skiing is my addiction!! I absolutely love to slide down slippery slopes from the time that wonderful frozen precipitation first flutters down from the wintery sky until every last white patch has disappeared from the Sierras.
My addiction began shortly after birth, when I received my first pair of plastic skis. I would pretend to ski, riding between my dad's legs. It was all downhill from here (such a clever pun, eh?). I eventually joined the Squaw Valley Mighty Mights program. I battled my way through the ranks until obtaining the prestigious and highly sought after Gold Star. I then dabbled with the Squaw Valley Freestyle team until I found that skiing Big Mountain was the direction I wanted to head.
Since this decision to focus in on big mountain freeskiing I have skied squaw on a near daily basis (backcountry days being the only time I'm not around), shooting photos and video whenever possible, and competed in my first competition, the North American Freeskiing Championships at Kirkwood finishing 7th in my day of qualifiers.
In order to fund my fun during the winter months I work on a farm in the central valley. The hours are long and the days are hot, but come winter it is all worth it. This fall I am taking a double load (23 units) at Sierra College working towards a degree in Applied Art and Design with an emphasis in Multimedia. Currently I am planning on taking the winter/spring off in order to ski and have the flexibility to travel and compete this upcoming season.
The following season is shaping up to be one for the ages with a recently purchased sled, plans to follow the IFSA tour, and a trip to either Cham or AK.
Pray for Pow!!
